In healthcare, especially the necessary safeguards for patient privacy, and the fragmented landscapes have prevented the large-scale adoption so far. Now is the time to overcome legal and organizational hurdles in health data analytics to enable research and improve patient outcomes.

A contributory data model is required, combining the efforts of clinicians, researchers, providers and especially patients through their informed consent.

Olaf Lodbrok has more than 20 years of experience in the German healthcare market, 14 of which he spent in various executive roles. His professional career began at a leading international medical technology company, where he held management positions in marketing and sales, amongst others. Olaf holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from RWTH Aachen University in Germany. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Duke University in the USA. He has been Managing Director of Elsevier GmbH in Germany since 2007.
